I Can Be Confident God Sees Me

Have you wondered does God see me and if He does, what does He think of me? It is easy to feel small in a world full of amazing people.

Add in the influence of social media, which contributes to feelings of not being seen, worthwhile and special, we really wonder if God sees us.

I have learned that God always sees me, loves me and is worthy of my unfailing trust. When I put my trust in Jesus, He provides confidence so I can feel worthy and whole. This same love is available to everyone.

God sees you and loves you unconditionally.

What does God See When He Looks at Me?

God loves us just the way we are. He yearns for us to believe in His grace and embrace our new identity when we follow Him.

In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, we are introduced to Hagar, a young woman who desperately needed to know, what does God see when He looks at me.

Hagar was the Egyptian maid of Sarah, the wife of Abraham. Abraham and Sarah were awaiting the fulfillment of a covenant with God who had promised they would have an heir providing descendants as vast as the stars in the sky.

“Then the Lord said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.” Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Genesis 15:4-5 NLT

13 years had passed without the promised heir, and Abraham and Sarah grew anxious. They struggled and wondered does God see me and remember His promise. In their despair, they gave Hagar to Abraham so she could give birth to the promised heir.

Although servants contributing to family was customary at this time, an heir through Hagar was not God’s plan. Abraham and Sarah became impatient and thought God’s promise needed their help to be fulfilled.

Sounds familiar to me. When we wonder does God see me, we are tempted to take matters into our own hands.

After giving birth to Abraham’s son, Ishmael, Hagar was treated poorly by Sarah.

Imagine the rejection she felt after complying with Abraham’s instructions and then being alienated and mistreated. She probably wondered does God see me and does he understand my pain.

This sounds familiar too.

Hagar decided to take her son and run away, but as she flees, she has an encounter with God.

“She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen[c] the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13 NIV

Any encounter with God is amazing, but this Holy visit assured Hagar that God was there, saw her and loved her.

Are you in a season of wondering what does God see when he looks at me?

I hope Hagar’s story brings courage and peace. There is nothing too big for God to reach; our mistakes, sin or doubt can all be forgiven.

When we call out to God in prayer, He reminds us that He sees and loves each one of us just like Hagar.

“Whatever your troubling circumstances are, whether you’re afflicted by illness or injury, brokenhearted over the loss of a loved one or disillusioned because your dearest friend has betrayed or rejected you, God knows and cares. You can be confident that you are under God’s watchful eye.”

Have you wondered does God see me and if He does, what does He think of me? It is easy to feel small in a world full of amazing people. But you can be confident that God sees YOU!

Bible Verses about what God Thinks of Me

The Bible is the life changing Word of God. Every time I read the Bible, I learn more about what God thinks of me. This precious gift is available to everyone. Here are a few Bible verses about what God thinks of me that provide comfort on those days that I need some reassurance.

Psalm 139:13-16 MSG “Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you,The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”

Psalm 33:13 NIV “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind”

Isaiah 41:10 ESV Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Do you believe God sees you, loves you and cares about you? If you struggle holding onto the truth that God sees you, pray that He will reveal himself to you. I promise He will.

Read the words of God found in the Bible for wisdom. Find a community that supports you and helps you grow in your faith.

And finally, wait patiently on the Lord; He will comfort you and guide you through the power of the Holy Spirit.
