How to enjoy a closer relationship with God

“See, the former things have taken place,

and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you... You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you do not admit them? From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.”

Isaiah 42:9, 48:6

How to enjoy a closer relationship with God

Why is it you ask everyone else before you ask God?

They don't have the answers; God does.

Now it is true, God does put others in your path for sound counsel. But start with Him.

And then always, test the counsel of another to make sure their counsel is in line with God's Word. Any contradiction erases every word uttered. Remember the enemy is the great deceiver.

“When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

He is able to twist ever so gently the truth to suit His evil purposes so you must take very special care.

Once he slithers in with his lies, sin abounds.

Your turn ...

Spend some time and meditating and then answer this question.

What are your questions?

Take them to God.

In the meantime repeat the following until it is completely written on your heart...“Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Hosea 6:3

Come to His throne and pray ...

“Praise is to the Name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. Indeed, He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him. I thank and praise You, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power...”

Daniel 2:20-23

“Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

Jeremiah 33:3

You can enjoy a closer relationship with God.

How to do this as a weekly Bible study Day One: Experience Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.” Day Two: Observe & Read Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video). Day Three: Interpret Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..” Day Four: Application Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this. Day Five: Testify Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
